Women shaping the future of Edo's minerals.

The Edo Chapter of Women in Mining champions women and children across the solid minerals value chain — ending child labour, defending women's rights, and fighting for fair pay in one of Nigeria's richest mineral belts.

About us

A seat for every woman in the mining sector.

Women in Mining, Edo Chapter is a community of women miners, geologists, traders, engineers, and entrepreneurs working across Edo State's solid minerals sector. We exist to make sure women are visible, safe, skilled, and fairly paid in an industry where they have long done the work without the recognition — or the reward.

From artisanal sites to formal operations, we connect our members to training, fair markets, and the people who make decisions — so the wealth beneath Edo's soil lifts the women and families who help bring it up.

Our cause

We started this because the reality wasn't fair.

Across mining communities in Edo, women and children carry too much of the burden and too little of the reward. Child labour on and around sites, women stripped of their rights, and women paid a fraction of what their work is truly worth — these are the wrongs we organised to put right.

We're available for grants. Funders, foundations, and partners are welcome to invest in our cause.

What we do

Three ways we back our members.

Practical support that meets women where they are — on the field, in the market, and in the room where policy is set.

Training & safety

Hands-on capacity building in modern, safe, and sustainable mining practices for women at every level.

Advocacy & voice

We represent women and children before government, regulators, and industry — turning presence into policy.

Fair market access

Linking members to fair buyers, finance, and cooperatives so their minerals earn what they're truly worth.

Edo's mineral wealth

The ground we work.

Edo State holds an extraordinary spread of solid minerals — each gem shows where that deposit is found across the state.

200 distinct minerals and industrial deposits have been identified across Edo State — from precious metals and battery minerals to construction sands, stone, and energy resources.
